Policy & Research

Following on from the Every Child Matters campaign; the Every Disabled Child Matters campaign and the Aiming High for Disabled Children campaign (the transformation programme for disabled children's services), parents have highlighted that  particular areas of concern are 'short breaks' or 'respite'  -  for all the family and with more choice; Better childcare; and Transition as children become adults.

Together for Disabled Children
The Together for Disabled Children (TDC) partnership is the delivery agent for the Department for Children, Schools and Families and brings together Serco Education and Children’s Services and Contact a Family, the charity that supports families with disabled children.
Aiming High for Disabled Children
Aiming High for Disabled Children (AHDC) was launched in May 2007 and is the government’s transformation programme for disabled children's services, jointly delivered by the Department for Children, Schools and Families (DCSF) and the Department of Health (DH).
AHDC Best Practice to Common Practice
This document assesses progress to date. It shows how activity on each of the review’s identified areas has progressed and indicates the next phase of work. It shows the difference that AHDC is already making on the ground, and uses examples of best practice that demonstrate what needs to happen everywhere.
