Information Focus Group

Parents at the conferences have told us that it is really hard to access information around the time of and following their childs diagnosis. They have also said that it is really hard to make sense of information that is available. 

Parents have told us that they would like things like:

An information or resource centre to have a range of services

Piggy back onto current services, i.e. Children’s Centres and enhance already established services.

Have a directory that is on-line and regularly updated

Have hard copies of directories available too made available through GP, surgeries and libraries

Include a question and answer forum on a website so that parents can post and receive suggestions and help from other parents going through similar situations

A buddy service offered to parents who are new to the system
 

So we met, talked, listened and:

Worked with the Families Information Service to design and produce a range of information packs around children, young people and families. These are now being ordered and will be available very soon! Organised an Information day in Redcar for parents and carers to meet other parents, professionals, charities and service providers.
